A good day we received in our writing a letter in which it was invited
to us upon presentment of the First Sport Games of Euskadi, in an act that was going to take place day 4 of
April, in the sport city Amaya of Pamplona.
Only think about which it was being developed, and knowing that
smaller companies had fallen before beginning to walk, and also being expert of the little existing organizational
level in the field of the sport in Euzkadi, it seemed to us an initiative that were going to
fall within that terrible trunk of the memories, and for this reason we rejected, at first, the idea to go to this
act.
Having already average forgotten presentation games, we had to transfer us that
same day to Pamplona in the occasion of party manomanista between Retegui I and Bengoechea
III and as we had left gusanillo of whom she was behind the name of Sustraiak, we decided to
advance our arrival and to attend the press conference.
Our surprise, of entrance, was the one to find us with as much
well-known and recognized people within the sport, between the men of
Sustraiak, men who now or before have been or are example in the different facets from the sport,
like professional sportsmen and amateurs, others like club directors,
technicians, more...
The second surprise was the simplicity of
the press conference, in which the information means we were mixed between the people who
were presenting/displaying, deports by sport, these First Sport Games of
Euzkadi. The act was presided over by our good friend and president of
Sustraiak, Jose Luis Bilbao, man very known by its great humanity and
simplicity, and that as much and as much has worked by the Basque sport (rural), next to him the rest of the directors
of Sustraiak, being each province represented by three people.
And since there are no two without
three, the third surprise arrived when the journalists we had to make use of the word and to shoot our
questions, which were answered the millimeter leaving to see clearly, in these answers, the
obstacles with which it was going away to find Sustraiak throughout the months of
competition.
From that day we have step by step
followed the development of the games, times like spectators and others like informers, and have
had the luck to contemplate all doing of these men,

that they have had to work until draining in a
titánica fight, first, against the bad structuring of the sport in Euzkadi and against that
bureaucracy of Government, City councils, etc., that have tried to abort the work of many
months; later, the threats of those groups that hought that Sustraiak tried to politicize the sport, when all Basque
sportsman, that has participated in these games, as much in active-duty as in
liabilities, knows, that the only flag (the emblem designed by Néstor
Basterrechea) of Sustraiak, has been well and is the one of the sport of
Euskadi, that have known how it to wave in the seven provinces, without
knowing of borders with the only policy of the port by the sport, without having to happen
through the capital of the Kingdom, thing that is escociendo in many
estates.
We do not speak of the economic problems that although in good part
have been resolved by the Country Savings banks or other individual
organizations, as in the case of the Association of Retailers of the Bilbao Old
Helmet, it has been insufficient, often having to leave the money the pockets these men.
By our part, and I believe that on the part of all the means of
information of Euzkadi, only we have left, to congratulate to these man
that their heart have known yet to take these games, with its virtues and errors, because all the
beginnings are difficult, and of which yes we are safe is that the committed errors will not become
to commit, because of them is learned and Sustraiak has learned.
