As it is known in all the Basque scope, this Association of Friends
of Opera has pierced definitively in our town and or the 1980 exercise
put in scene a series of concerts to popular prices in which always our Basque music was mixed with classic music. Later the traditional
festival of opera in the month of September, that had a national
character, with the presidency of Don Carlos Garaikoetxea, in the
inauguration, and other members of the Basque Government in the remaining functions. Also they attended with official character the
Leasehold Delegations of Alava, Guipúzcoa and Biscay, presided over each one of them by the most excellent General Deputies gentlemen
Guevara, Aizarna and Macua, as well as the deputies and senators in the Parliament of the State and Basoue, all of them accompanying the
Lehendakari.
Another festival of Basque music took place the month of last
December, presided over by the most excellent Advisor of Culture, Mr.
Labayen.
This year, and from the month of January, every month a li'rico-symphonic concert is put also in scene, to prices popular, and
sponsored by the Bank of Bilbao. Days 19 and of 21 May the Ballet of the Rhin will please to us with its better elenco artistic.
Again the next September and maintaining the prices of previous
years, the tenors Alfredo Kraus and Franco Bonisolli will sing in Bilbao,
amply known in the international scope.
One thinks about the inauguration of the Psalm of Euzkadi in the three
capitals. This work has been composed by the well-known donostiarra Francisco Escudero.
And finally, the month of December again Basque music with
"Zigor", "Mirentxu", more...
As vast program notices to emphasize all the tests of all this are
gratuitous for the chavales and, in general, the organizers impel the artists so that they do them to all voice.
This Association renders from these lines tribute of gratefulness and
of the most distinguished consideration to most excellent Mr. Alcalde of Bilbao, Jon Castañares, who impels this activity with the greater
affection and enthusiasm, ordering a series of spectacles for our Great Week in August. |
