Cathedral of Santiago
With the rank of Cathedral from 1950, when I am created the Diocese, the construction of the primitive church
was elevated on in the last third a gothic hermitage of century XIV, consisting of
three ships maintained by six pillars, claustro and porch, as well as of a girola
with hair crown and generous vaults.
The name of the church, that at the moment is the more important gothic
temple of Bilbao and takes the name of Santo Patro'n of Villa, is fruit of the
jacobea culture previous to the foundation of Bilbao, perhaps previous to century XI.

The Choir was initiated in 1404 and at the end of the XVI the Claustro
was constructed, in gothic flowery. In 1581 the South Porch and in 1596 is constructed the Cover of the Angel who gives to the street
Mail. The present facade and tower were constructed in 1885, but also we can be run into with more
recent elements, mainly considering that this architectonic historical set has been recovered recently.
Therefore, after a complete project of restoration that it
includes, as much inner as externally, from the laying of foundations to the
tower, nowadays we can appreciate, in addition to its physical and tangible
enchantments, the sounds of the new organ and their bells.

San Antón
Five years happened since the works of remodeling of the Church of San
Antón begin, works that allow to discover new since their doors again
were opened to the public the 9 of November of 2003.
Doing a little of history, we will remember that the space chosen for its establishment was the free
lazy lot by the palace that had commanded to construct Alfonso XI in 1332, whereas the first religious
act that was celebrated was a century later, the 5 of August of 1433.
Since then, this singular building of clear gothic pointed style with a full one in its fundamental plan,
has not only served like cult place, but that their architectonic values even served to inspire the
shield of Bilbao, where it stayed shaped as emblematic place of the
city.
As far as its recent renovation, also it has been made the restoration
of the organ, centenary, and of the paved one of the choir. In
addition, in the wall of the greater altar, it emphasizes after the reform a
mural of 20 square meters, painted on wood by Enrique Garci'a Erguin.
In summary, one is works that have allowed to recover many passages of
the history of Villa, since in this zone are the foundations of the first Consistorial House.

San
Nicolás
Dedicated to San Nicholas de Bari, marine pattern, and nailed between Ri'a
and old Bilbao, small and old hermitage that preceded to the Church of San
Nicholas, it indicated the navigators who Villa was close.
In order to refer us to the present Church we will have to overcome to
us until August of 1756, moment at which it was constructed and it
inaugurated, presenting/displaying an austere baroque style with airs of rationalist neoclasicismo.

The plant is octogonal and the facade is flanked by two towers. Already in his interior, it is worth
the trouble to admire the statures and the altarpiece of Paschal Juan of Mena that welcomes east
Histo'rico-Arti'stico Monument from 1972.
Santo
Juanes
Nailed heart of the Old Helmet in the heat of, the set formed by the church of Real Juan and the
later building of the street Maria Muñoz, nowadays occupied by the Museum
Ethnographic, Archaeological and Historical Basoue, was constructed at
the beginning of century XVII by the Jesuitas and dedicated to School until its expulsion decreed by Carlos III in 1767 was
culminated.
But this communication between the School and the Church is cut in
1770, dedicating to the first a to be Santa Casa de Misericordia and school pupilaje of teachers. On the other hand, the church assumes the
character of parish with the name of the Saints Juans.
This temple, that appears like beginning of the vizcaino baroque world, halfway
presents/displays an austere facade between the Baroque Renaissance and the European.
In its interior we found a plant basilica, with three
ships, of greater height the power station and narrower the lateral
ones, whereas the apse keeps a baroque characteristic altarpiece.
