New Seat

We would have ourselves to overcome until the second decade of century XIX to beable to be present at the construction of the New Seat, a
place with intrinsic enchantment that counts on an extension of 3,400
square meters and that was inaugurated in 1851, becoming this way the
seat with more wall-plate of Bilbao.

The week ends, this Porticada Seat becomes the "Montmartre" of the city, welcoming not only in different numismatic collectors that they sell or they buy his merchandise, but also to painters and other artists who meet to show their works and to make, on foot of street and before the numerous public that Sunday to Sunday occur here mentions, those works that shape the beauty of the surroundings that inspire to them.

Unamuno Seat

If we had par excellence to name some of the sites of encounter of the bilbainos, one of them would be, without a doubt, the Unamuno Seat, that by its location in the center of the Old Helmet, as well as to count more on one of the journeyed shutdowns of meter, has become a space of boisterous movement.

Long ago one was a place with important buildings that were demolished by different interests, whereas between years 1625 and 1835 de la Cruz was occupied by the Convent, notable building of baroque style that left

space to this seat, in the middle of which one rises to a bust of insigne writer and Universal Bilbaino Miguel de Unamuno, presiding over this way with its cautious letter the Archaeological, Ethnographic and Historical Museum that is also located in this seat.

Santiago  Seat

Lodging the Cathedral with the same name, one is this square of Santiago, place that some dantzaris of Villa do his by hours, taking until them its traditional dantzas that put in common the week ends in vespertine schedule, brightening up this way part of the Seven Streets of Bilbao.

The one that outside neuralgic point of Villa and center of the numeration of all the houses of Bilbao until 1885, welcomes in its center the source of Paret, which solely was not devised like decorative element, but also directed to the service of the people.

Arenal

Other many cities grew around a river, but in the case of Villa, Ri'a of Bilbao was the axis of the creation of ours "botxo". Thus, those same waters that gave food to our ancestors were depositing sands in playazo ample, from where the name of the Sandy ground came.

Between the expansion of the old Old Helmet and parallelly to the transformation in harbor zone, the Sandy ground became the stroll between Bidebarrieta and the church of San Nicholas at the beginning of century XIX. The present Bridge of the Sandy ground constituted, thus, the jump by Ri'a towards the first Extension of century XX.

Vital part of Villa, the Sandy ground counts on own identity, crowding together to newspaper an important number of viandantes that are increased in acts indicated like the different fairs that concentrate annually or celebrations there several, like the Market from Santo Tomás or the traditional market of flowers that are carried out every Sunday, as well as romerías of dantzas that is celebrated the weekends around the remarkable one.

Kiosco de Mu'sica (devised and constructed in 1923 with the purpose of lodging performances of bands, in special the policeman).

Source of the Dog

Attributed to the construction of this neoclassic monument to Juan Baptist of Orueta and Miguel de Maruri, one is a source that replaced another preexisting one with the name of "Spurts of San Miguel".

He would be in the 1800 when, with the main purpose to be a drinking trough for the load animals that went to the market, this construction was modified, receiving name of "Source of the Dog". This definition had to that the new constructed sewers were assimilated to the image of a dog, popular perception to which it had the name change and, by extension, the one of the street.
